T.H.U.G – s/t (Randale Records, CD – 2008)

T.H.U.G. é uma banda skinhead rock australiana formada por veteranos locais como Chumly (vocal) e Simon (bateria), membros estes que já haviam tocado em diversas bandas de Oi! e Rock’n’roll dos anos 80 e 90. Pra se ter uma melhor idéia da qualidade deste álbum, o mesmo foi produzido por Steve “Kingy” King, baixista dos Rose Tattoo. Na verdade, Steve também havia sido membro da banda no início, mas devido aos compromissos de viagem com a Rose Tattoo, assim como os de sua tattoo shop House of Pain, ele teve de ser substituído por outro baixista. Este CD é magnífico, Rock’n’Oi! de alta qualidade, com duas guitarras, letras maduras e que ficam na memória! Em relação às letras, estas falam sobre a vida nas ruas (tretas, traição e vingança, prisões e amigos que se foram). Angry Anderson, vocalista da Rose Tattoo, participa na faixa “Gunnin’ 4 you”, uma das melhores deste CD. Outras músicas que se destacam são “The way it is”, “69” e “We rule OK”. T.H.U.G. soa tão bem quanto as melhores bandas skinhead rock britânicas, você não irá se desapontar! Um disco brilhante!

T.H.U.G. is an Australian skinhead rock band formed by local veterans such as founding members Chumly (vocals) and Simon (drums), whose have played in several Oi! and Rock’n’roll bands from the 80’s and 90’s. To have a better idea about the quality of this album, it was produced by Rose Tattoo’s bass player Steve “Kingy” King. Actually, Steve also had been a member of the band in the early days, but due to his touring commitments with Rose Tattoo as well as his tattoo shop House of Pain, he had to be replaced by another bass player. This CD is superb, a top-notch Rock’n’Oi! followed by 2 guitars, with catchy songs and mature lyrics! Regarding the lyrics, it is about street life (aggro, betrayal & revenge, imprisonment and missing friends). Rose Tattoosinger Angry Anderson appears as guest on “Gunnin’ 4 you”, one of the best songs on this CD. Other brilliant songs are “The way it is”, “69” and “We rule OK”. T.H.U.G. sounds good as the best British skinhead rock bands, and you gotta love it! Impressive disc!
